Pilates is suitable for all levels of fitness and is particularly beneficial in helping the recovery and rehabilitation of many conditions including sciatica, general back pain, sports injuries, arthritis, osteoporosis, as well as pre-and post-natal health. It works by using controlled, yet fluid movements, alongside a specific breathing pattern to reinforce correct spinal and pelvic alignment. Each class emphasises the foundation principles of Pilates while offering modifications and variations to suit each participant's individual needs.
Whether you are completely new to Pilates, or returning back to exercise/practise or looking to take your fitness to the next level, The Barn Pilates offers a range of Pilates classes for all. Pilates bridges the gap between injury and full physical fitness. Pilates has something for everyone. We pride ourselves in creating calm, focussed and liberating classes for all. We offer classes from Absolute Beginners to Intermediate to cater for all ages and levels.​
Mat Pilates Classes
Our Mat Pilates classes build upon traditional Pilates principles and exercises to create the ultimate Pilates based workout to stretch, strengthen and stabilise. Muscle imbalances are the most common cause of lower back pain, aches and pains, poor posture and even low energy. Help your body return to a place of ease of movement and symmetry with our Mat Pilates classes. Suitable for Beginners and those wishing to take their fitness/Pilates practise to a new level.

BEGINNERS & IMPROVERS PILATES
-For Beginners and Beginner/Impovers
Tuesdays at 10:30am & 18:30pm

Description:​
Feel calm, energised and focussed. A great class also as a refresher class and those wishing to get back into classes/fitness. With options to progress or modify your movement.

This class is for beginners & also progressed beginners / “improvers”, who have mastered the basics of breathing and centering. There might be many things you haven’t understood yet, or that your body can’t do, but you understand how to coordinate breathing with movement in order to achieve flow and core support for your spine.. You might have been doing Pilates for many years, but you do not have the strength or flexibility required for the more challenging MIXED - INTERMEDIATE class, at the moment. Or you might have done Pilates in the past but you’re returning to a regular class after a break. We are very happy to adapt for individuals with medical conditions such as Osteoporosis at this level.

Expect a full body workout in this BEGINNERS & IMPROVERS level Pilates class. The focus of our sessions is building strength and endurance through the core, legs, glutes and shoulders, not forgetting the deep stabilising muscles to assist posture.
Closing section: we will take a few moments to relax and unwind.

MIXED - INTERMEDIATE PILATES
-some exercise/Pilates experience
-Intermediate level, focusing more on progressions

Feel calm, energised, with a sense of challenge in this class.

Expect a full body workout in a MIXED - INTERMEDIATE level Pilates class. The focus of our sessions is building strength and endurance through the core, legs, glutes and shoulders, not forgetting the deep stabilising muscles to assist posture. Expect more options to be challenged and progress in this class.
Closing section: we will take a few moments to relax and unwind.

ABSOLUTE BEGINNERS PILATES COURSE
-Absolute Beginners/New to Pilates

Our Absolute Beginners classes are suitable for those who are New to Pilates, or for anyone who has had a break from practising. An introduction is given to foundational Pilates practise, focussing on breathing and form/technique. The class ends with a cool down and relaxation section. This class helps complete beginners to build confidence in a safe, calm, supportive and nurturing environment. This is an entry level class, that will teach you the fundamentals of Pilates movement at a steady pace, easing you towards a fitter, stronger and more flexible physique.
